About the Alice Ferguson Foundation

By Nakeisha Martinez, Macaroni Kid Southern PG County MD Publisher March 14, 2024

The Alice Ferguson Foundation’s mission is to inspire environmental stewardship by giving people the tools to understand, appreciate, and protect nature. We educate children in Maryland, Virginia, and DC in sustainability, STEM principles, and environmental protection. This year, we’re celebrating our 70th anniversary by reaching two huge milestones. First, we’ve educated over a million students since 1954, and second, we’ve led cleanups of 8.5 million pounds of waste from the Potomac River watershed. Our 2024 focus is on developing accessibility and inclusivity on our environmental campus, which is 330 beautiful acres of wildlife habitat in Accokeek, including parts of Piscataway National Park, which we helped create by donating land.
